I’m not a huge fan of breakfast, mostly because i’m always so busy in the mornings and I don’t usually have time to make something tasty so I normally grab a piece of fruit. Weekends are a little different and I tend to have a late breakfast around 10am. I’m not sure what it is but i’m never hungry as soon as I wake up. Is anyone else like that?
One of my favourite breakfasts is experimenting with porridge and my latest creation (although I’m not i’ll be the first to have made this) is chocolate porridge with strawberries.
While it might not sound they healthiest breakfast you’ll be surprised. I have a secret ingredient (well no too secret, you can buy it from Amazon) – Choc Shot. A chocolate sauce with only 14 calories per teaspoon!
Here’s what you need:
- 40g of porridge oats
- Milk (I used skimmed) – enough to cover the oats and then about half again.
- 1 Table spoon of Choc Shot
- 4-6 Strawberries – diced
Pop the oats and milk in the pan and heat on a medium heat, stirring constantly. Add the choc shot, and keep stirring for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens up.
Pour out the oats into a bowl and top with strawberries. Serve hot.
Having oats in the morning will give you the energy you need for a busy morning and it will fill you up until lunch time. The strawberries will also count towards your 5-a-day.
If you follow Slimming world plan, this is 1.5 syns, if you use your hexB for the oats, and HexA for the milk ( with still some left for tea/coffee). Calorie wise, i’m not 100% sure. But i’d estimate around the 350-400 mark,
