On Saturday after we shot an outfit post, we headed to the newly refurbished Hilton in St.Julians for afternoon tea. In fact it had just re-opened that say and I have to say I’m very impressed with the makeover. Just look how gorgeous it looks now:
In the lobby bar you can stop for afternoon tea, cake or a selection of food as well. Here’s a peek at just some of the amazing cakes they have on offer:
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the manager and shown to a table out on the new terrace that over looks the pool and sea. It was the perfect spot for a bit of lunch and our waitress Emily couldn’t have been any nicer. With the luxurious interior, picture perfect view and top class service – I almost forgot I was in the middle of St.Julians.
Service was super quick, and here is what arrived as we’d opted for the standard afternoon tea (they also have a chocolate one, and you can add a glass of prosecco if you’re in the mood).
What can I saw about this….each piece was tastier than the last. Everything was fresh and made to perfection. Being British, I’m particular about my scones but the Hilton had hit the nail on the head. The clotted cream was light and fluffy and the jam….i don’t know how they made it, but it was just simply the best jam I’d ever had (I almost asked if we could buy some to take home it was that good!). In the last picture, those pink things as little bites of heaven – strawberry cheese cake. I could literally each those every day.
For less than €25 we came away stuffed, there was so much cake they even kindly boxed up the rest for us to take home.
I’ve not been everywhere in Malta yet, as I’ll continue my Afternoon tea series however it’s going to take a lot to beat the newly refurbished Hilton.
If you’re looking for an afternoon escape I highly recommend you check out the lobby bar at the Hilton in St.Julians you will not be let down.
